Our approach at Skinsage starts with a detailed history and questionnaire regarding diet, family history, medications, history of medical problems and includes full laboratory evaluation to correct any underlying causes. If the hair loss is non-scarring (meaning there is no underlying primary disorder of the hair follicles such as infection, autoimmunity or other rare scarring processes) we proceed with a holistic approach to address vitamin deficiencies and underlying hormonal imbalances.
Our doctors are able to provide a detailed plan of action including prescription oral and topical medications as well as recommend novel light treatments and in office procedures to complement other therapies.
Compounded topical solutions which include a mix of ingredients and varying concentrations are convenient and allow for personalization and effectiveness. Topical rosemary oil, omega-3 and pumpkin seed oil and Vitamin D oral supplementation have shown proven benefits in optimizing hair loss regimens. Oral minoxidil can be used in appropriate patients in addition to finasteride, dutasteride spironolactone. It is important to remember that any improvements will take at least three months to see results.
